New Zealand Weekly Update #70

19th of February until 25th of February 2024

Approximate reading time: 2 minutes

Lets get it started

Good day fellas. Another week in paradise. Not as sporty and outdoorsy as usual but after Challenge Wanaka I felt like doing nothing but chillin. And socialising a bit more again since the training for the triathlon took away a lot of my time and most of the training I was by myself. And fortunately a friend of mine I have met last year while doing my raod trip in the south island was coming over to Wanaka. Natasha stayed in our house for two nights and we had a great time after work being in the secret sauna, having indian food and movies. Its great to see people from time to time, having a chat about random things and also talking about different ideas, struggles and plans for our future.
While Natasha was leaving on friday, we catched up with another friend of ours who came back to New Zealand, Sophie, And we ended up having heaps of drinks in Wanaka until late friday evening. Talking about her travel experiences, my residency plans and about the special energy of Wanaka.
And if this would not have been enough, Tony and me went to a friend of ours to celebrate the end of chinese new year. So we got some chinse food, sweet rice balls looking like eggs and talking about different traditions, cultures and trying to learn some chinse words (and I even do not remember any of them but gambe, which means skol, prost or cheers).
This morning, I slept in and I am still very tired. The training for the triathlon took quite a lot of physical energy and I feel like holidays. Like some time to just relax, to sleep, to get back some energy. But since I am very close to apply for my residency, there is no time or money to travel 🙂

What else to say?

No big adventures this week. No big events. Nothing like go hard or go home. Nothing special to tell. No deep thoughts or talks this week. Just a normal and lovely week in Wanaka. Full of work. Full of great people. And full of more ideas of what to do next. And of course something is coming up next. Next week Saturday. Motatapu Offroad Marathon. The one I ran last year with my mate Robin. This year it is me and my collegue Kelsi. The goal? Having fun and finish them run! And having a well deserved drink afterwards in the sun. And then? Well, something new and challenging will show up for sure.

See you next week!

Felix
