New Zealand Weekly Update #79

Last updated on Mai 27, 2024

Lets get it started

Well, this time very very late update. It is already Tuesday and I haven’t had the chance to really write down about my last week. Mostly because I have not been in a very good place. There is quite a lot of change going on at the moment here. Workwise. Personal wise. Change wise. People leaving. I had to move houses and I still process this crazy monday. With the rejected residency, things they naturally come with this situation and also the experience on the river. And I am about to withdray my application for residency since it would not appear in my records. And I am gonna apply again anyway. Even though it means more time. More work. More money. More patience. But as long as there is a chance, I will try again.

The week in a nutshell

Well, it was quite a week full of work, not a lot of „adventures“ and some social time as well. Friday evening, I was catching up with some friends since Tony is about to leave soon and we had some board games and drinks in Hawea at a very good friend of ours, Christina and Mike. The ones I have spent christmas and new years eve with. So we ended up playing board games all night long, taking, drinking, joking. And out of the sudden it was 2AM in the morning. And I had to work the next day. And we just kept talking and drinking, until 4AM (well I stopped drinking since I had to drive the next morning). 2 hours of sleep, time for me to drive back to Wanaka and to get ready for work. And it was not as bad as expected. I actually felt pretty good, some Red Bull and some coffee and I went through the day 🙂 obviously with some naps after work, some food and movies as well. Sunday, I catched up with Cinnita, my collegue and very good friend from Queenstown. She is aobut to move to Auckland and we just had some talks in the sun with our friend Kat. And it was time to say goodbye to this cutie. I will miss Cinni a lot since she always has time to listen, to talj, to give advice and to just be a very good friend. But at least I have a reason now to visit Auckland for a couple of days 🙂

What else to say?

Well, the news of immigration and the „rejected“ application for residency hit hard. It still hits hard. Since it was like a punch in the face, in the heart and in faith. People would ask me „what could go wrong, they will grant you the visa“. And yeah, I thought the same. And still, it went the other way. They just do not accept parts of my work experience in New Zealand. Which is a shit show. But there is another chance. A new chance. A new application. The same fee of 4300 NZD, fair enough, it takes more time, more patience and more prayers. But, as long as there is a chance to get residency, I will take this chance and keep going. And in the meantime trying to make the most out of the time I have here. Obviously I am not hiking each and every day. Obviously New Zealand is not about adventures each and every day. Most of the days I am working, trying to save money and I am just exhausted from time to time. At the moment too exhausted to go for some sports after or before work. And this is it. This is my current daily life here. And it will change. It will not be like this forever. It is necessary for the bigger picture and it is part of the way.
See you next week fellas!
