New Zealand Weekly Update #91

15th of July to 21st of July 2024

Approximate reading time: 5 minutes

Lets get it started

Welcome back fellas, welcome to my weekly update from New Zealand. This week has gone so quick and the other one is already on the run. And I am in between of saving money, working, planning new adventures, working on my publication for the english verion of my book and trying to enjoy life from time to time. Yesterday I was off and out for a run. I havent been running for ages. And I can tell that I am a little rusted. It took me a while to get back into the flow and after 10km I decided to end this run and to be very honest, my legs are a bit sore. What a great feeling though! I missed it quite a lot.

Wanaka below the inversion layer

It is this time of the year again. You wake up and there are clouds everywhere. No sun, jsut clouds clouds clouds. Mystic and kind of interesting but after a couple of days you are seeking for some sunshine. For some blue sky. For some warm sun rays on your skin. Well, heaps of people would go up the mountains. Skiing. Snowboarding. Having drinks. Well, I am working, below this endless and thick inversion layer. But this is also part of the whole story. Not every day is supposed to be a day full of adventures, full of new experiences and full of all those crazy moments. Sometimes it is also about the day to day flow. About patience. About working towards a bigger goal. A bigger adventure. A new experience. And about not suffering below the clouds while the whole world is out there and enjoying sunshine and mulled wine up in the snow. This is also the challenge of living in Wanaka. Of living in one of the most popular areas for outdoor sports in New Zealand. You try to keep up with all those outdoorsy people. You try to be part of all thise exciting adventures and experiences while still trying to keep up with your day to day life, your work, your chores, your bills, your friends, your hobbies and also your own quality time. And of course you want to keep up with friends and family far far away. Sometimes days could be 48 hours long, to be bale to use them to sleep in and to get in touch with all those people all over the world.
But then, you pick up some new stuff and decide to brew your own kombucha. And fellas, this one hit hard! So delicious and healthy as. And I can not believe how easy it was to make my own kombucha! And the second batch is already in progress. And I bottled up the first batch and added some kiwi to get the carbonation process running (where the liquid gets more fizzy, actually it just adds carbondioxide, so the drink is not flat). And I can not wait to open up those bottles and enjoy this liquid gold!

What else to say?

On Thursda I went to MacPac and got myself some nice outdoor stuff. Since I am still planning on doing the TA – Te Araroa. 3000km through New Zealand. And being back in the outdoors. Being back on adventures. Being back on telling stories. And to be able to be part of this amazing country again and to breath.
I will keep you updated on this as well, but it will happen sooner or later!

See you next week guys!

Your DingyInternational
Felix
