Lets get it started

Good Morning Wanaka, good morning New Zealand. And good evening Europe. Hello from the future :). A wonderful sunny day, cold, blue sky, the sun will warm up the city soon again. But it is getting colder now, Winter is ahead. And Wanaka is getting more busy every day. People from all over the world try to find a room, a house, a roof to stay here. All Hotels and hotels are booked, no vacation anywhere. So I am really happy to be in a warm and cozy house with my flatmates and we have people around from time to time to stay at our house as well for a couple of days. There are also a lot of people who are sleeping at different campgrounds in their tents or their vans. Hard to imagine to live this kind of live, especially in a tent, when it is as cold as it is already. Sometimes, friends also come over to do their laundry or having a hot shower :). And most of the time, we are very happy to help out, to support and to share our house with peole who are looking for a place to stay at. As I can hardly imagine how difficult it might be to stay at the campground when it is getting colder, more wet and when there is not a lot of space to store your stuff.

But as our house is very crowded from time to time, we also have to take care about our own comfort level and keep a little balance between supporting others and still feeling comfortable in our own house, which can be a challenge from time to time though 🙂 . Since on the one handside, you want to support them, help them, make their day a little easier and more comfortable. But on the other handside it is quite hard sometimes to find a balance of overdo things, of supporting too much, of making people feel that they can take it for granted. That you are always available, always there to support them. And whenever they need you, you are there, without any excemption. And this could lead to a loss of your own energy. So the challenge is to find a good balance of supporting others (especially if they ask for your help) and of being able to support yourself and keeping your energy level balanced and stable as well… Well, of course this does not mean to never support anyone again, as it should be part of our nature. Support others mostly show who we are, not who they are.

But it is important to always ask yourself why you want to help, if it is appreciated, necessary and if people don’t take you and your support for granted. And I am not talking about to get something back like money or materialistic stuff. The best you can share, the best you can offer to somebody else is your time. Your attention. This is how you can show being grateful.
And the right people will spend their important time with you even if you don’t offer anything except yourself. The right people will appreciate your time. Will appreciate you. This is how you can differentiate between people who just try to take advantage out of you and people, who are really interested in you as a person.
Well, this week hasn’t been that adventourus outdoorwise, but it was still a week to remember and to think about, lets have a look inside 🙂 .

Whats going on in Wanaka?

As I am off from work, I try to fill my days with some usefull stuff. Meeting with friends, going out for a run to prepare myself for the next official running event (Southern Lake Halfmarathon 6th of May) and trying to make some plans for my journey to Germany as well. And I am really excited to see my family and friends again, since I am in New Zealand for almost half a year – just insane! And I already made up some plans where to go in Germany, who to see and what to do. It might be a stressful time, but I am keen to make the most out of it and just spend time with some great and lovely people 🙂
And since I’ve got a job offer from OCULA (optometry and optician company in New Zealand) I also try to figure out how to apply for a residency in New Zealand – to live and work in New Zealand longtermwise. And there are different ways to apply for residency, depending on your age, qualifications, work experience, salary and so on. And it will take a lot of patience and money to apply for, but I reckon it is worth it since I am free to work everywhere in New Zealand and I can travel in and out of New Zealand whenever I want to. Dobby is looking foeward being a free elf soon 🙂
Since I still struggle a little bit with some bureaucratic topics with my former company, I had an appointment with Immigration on wednesday to figure out how to move on, how to solve different problems and how to behave in a respectful way without being rude or offensive. And I realised, that sometimes companies don’t give you all the necessary and relevant information which you need to know about your rights and duties, sometimes for your disadvantage, even when they are still within the legal framework. So this will be a way for me to learn even more about being patient, respectful and trying to find a solution which is a good solution for everyone.

What else to say?

This weeks update might be a little short, but sometimes things are not as exciting as you want them to be. Sometimes, it is just daily stuff, normal structures and the usual topics. But daily and usual things are still great in New Zealand, even after six months of living here, I am not getting bored or tired of looking outside, seeing this beautiful area, being surrounded by lakes and mountains. This place is just a powerful and great one to be and to live.
And since I am thinking already a long time about another tattoo, I am looking forward to get the next one in May here in Wanaka – I’ll keep you updated about that one when it is done 🙂 (and I was thinking already a long time about the design as it represents a quite important change and signpost in my life)

Make yourself a nice week, stay patient, kind and friendly. And support people around you whenever it feels right – but support yourself as well and take care about your own energy level and inner balance.

Your DingyInternational
Felix
