Lets get it started
Fellas, apologies, apologies, apologies. Being so very late with my weekly update (for last week) is not typical german, but typical „I am tired and everything is going crazy in the country of Kiwis“. And I can tell you, things have been crazy the last couple of days. And it will take a lot of time to process, but for my next update, I will give you some good news and finally, there will be a win-moment. A yes moment. A fuck yeaaah moment! Stay tuned on this!
However, it is saturday morning and I am writing my weekly blog for last week. Just because I was too busy, too tired and not very keen in writing down everything, just to think about everything again and again and again. However, here it comes:
Smooth Criminal?
Imagine you move to New Zealand, working as an outdoor guide for the summer season. You love your job, you love the area and you love the people. So you decide to stay. But then you face the first struggles with your former employer. You hire a lawyer and get things sorted. And you move on to the next employer. You are happy, you decide to stay and to apply for residency. To settle down. Weeks later, you receive a letter from Immigration – Application declined! Your former employer underpaid you, your skilled work is not accepted. You struggle again, you keep going and decide to let it go.
You keep going with your new employer, and you persevere. You stay hopeful, kind, fun, honest. You just do what you have to do. A couple of months later, you apply again for residency. Weeks later, you receive a letter from Immigration. The application will be declined. The company you are working for officially does not exist anymore – Amalgamation without communication. Without adjusting contracts, without doing anything about it. And even worse – you are breaching your visa conditions and you might be eligible for deportation. What the fu**?!
And finally, you realise, it is time to stop accepting how companies in New Zealand treat migrant workers and you decide to fight for your right – to Kiwi! And this is what I decided to do. So I hired an immigration and employment laywer and things will be sorted soon, the pace is fast now! And I am telling you, this whole fuck up affects me more than I thought. It affects my relationships, my energy, my sleep. And those things have to stop! Companies here should understand that they play with lifes, that they play with futures and that they play with human beings. Well, I got some bad news for you – you messes with a German – good luck!
What else to say?
FFS fellas, what is going on here? New Zealand shows itself from a very different, crazy and challenging side. I knew that moving abroad and settling somewhere completly different would not be easy, but is actually a fucking hard and tough challenge. It sometimes is a nightmare and whenever you think it could not get worse – here it comes! Bääämmm! But we assured, things will change and I will not give up. I will fight for my right and for what I deserve.
See you soon fellas
Your DingyInternational
Felix
